What direct primary care actually is

It is not a discount plan, and it is not concierge medicine for the wealthy. It is a different way of paying for primary care, and the difference shows up in how long you wait and how long you are seen.

  1. You pay the practice directly

A flat monthly membership goes to us, not through an insurer. No claims, no billing codes, no copay at the desk. That single change is what makes everything below possible.

  2. The practice stays small on purpose

A typical primary care doctor carries two to three thousand patients. That is what produces the twelve-minute visit and the three-week wait. We keep a fraction of that, so there is time for you.

  3. You get your doctor's actual attention

Same or next-day appointments. Visits that run as long as they need to. Text or call Dr. Rosenberg directly instead of leaving a message with a front desk and hoping.

Is this instead of my insurance? No.

A Lotus membership replaces the part of healthcare that insurance handles worst — getting hold of your own doctor. It does not replace coverage for the expensive, unpredictable things. Keep your insurance plan, and use it for hospitals, specialists and prescriptions.

Most members pair us with a lower-premium plan, because they stop needing insurance for the everyday care they used to claim for. Membership is not health insurance and does not meet minimum essential coverage.

Questions people ask before joining

Do I still need health insurance?

Yes. A Lotus membership covers your primary care — visits, chronic condition management, preventive care — but not hospital stays, surgery, emergencies, specialists or prescriptions at the pharmacy. Keep an insurance plan for those. Membership is not health insurance and does not meet minimum essential coverage.

What does membership cost?

$150 a month for one adult, or $200 a month flat for a couple, plus $20 a month per child in the same household. Pay 11 months up front and the 12th is free — $1,650 a year for an individual. There are no copays and no per-visit charges.

How is this different from a regular doctor's office?

A typical primary care panel is two to three thousand patients, which is what produces the twelve-minute visit and the three-week wait. A direct primary care panel is a fraction of that size, so appointments are same or next-day, visits run as long as they need to, and you can text or call your doctor directly instead of leaving a message with a front desk.

Who can join, and is there a minimum commitment?

We see patients age 2 and up. Membership starts with 3 months paid up front. After that you can cancel any time with 30 days' written notice. If you leave and come back later there is a $99 re-initiation fee.

What is the Lotus Plus add-on?

Lotus Plus is an optional upgrade at $129 a month on top of your base membership, with a 6-month minimum. It adds member pricing on select in-office treatments, longevity dashboard, priority scheduling, fullscript discount. You need an active base membership first — Lotus Plus cannot be bought on its own.
